Partnerships with Multilateral Agreements and International Organizations

Partnerships are an important mechanism in the rapidly changing world of the international community and are recognized as a vital tool to support the implementation of the Ramsar Convention and initiate practical action by engaging stakeholders at all levels. The UN Millennium Declaration demonstrates how partnerships fostered by the international community will “give greater opportunities to the private sector, non-governmental organizations and civil society, in general, to contribute to the realization of the Organization’s goals and programmes.”

The Ramsar Convention seeks to work together with, inter alia, other international intergovernmental organizations, MEAS, banks, facilities and programmes to ensure that wetlands are used sustainably.
